    • Coronavirus in Delhi: 21,259 new cases reported in last 24 hrs; positivity rate climbs to 25.65%
      Delhi logged 23 COVID-19 fatalities and 21,259 cases while the positivity rate rose to 25.65 per cent, according to data shared by the health department here on Tuesday. A total of 2,209 Covid patients are in hospitals. Of them, 84 are on ventilator support, the government data showed. The city currently has 74,881 active cases of which 50,796 are in home isolation.

The recovery rate also stands at 96.36%, according to the data by the Union Health Ministry. The Omicron tally in India also climbed to 4,461 cases reported in 28 states with Maharashtra remaining to be the worst-hit state with 1,247 Omicron cases, followed by Rajasthan with 645 cases and Delhi with 546 cases.

      According to data shared by the jail authorities, 66 inmates -- 42 in Tihar and 24 in Mandoli jail -- had tested positive for COVID-19 till Monday. Among the 48 infected staffers, 34 are from Tihar, six from Rohini jail and eight from Mandoli jail.

      New Delhi, Jan 10 (ANI): As India entered Omicron-driven third wave, Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital Medical Director informed of receiving 187 patients from Omicron through genome sequencing. “Since December 2, we have received 187 patients from Omicron through genome sequencing. 180 patients have been discharged and now we have only 7 patients admitted to Omicron,” said Dr Suresh Kumar, MD, LNJP.
